My Pet Kitty

My Pet Kitty is the name given to an interactive toy from MGA. I'm uncertain about the year of release, but the tag mentions "2001", so I'm guessing it may be from that year or 2002. It requires four C batteries, the remote requires two AAA batteries, and the mouse it comes with requires three AAA batteries.

It also comes with a brush, apparently.

Appearance

The toy resembles a black and white cat with blue eyes, wearing a red collar with a bell. It has a pink nose, whiskers, and its tongue is constantly poking out.

Functions

Click here (or here) for the manual. Most information and some of the wording in this section came from there.

In short, Kitty can walk, sit, go after her mouse, regardless of whether it is moving or not, meow, move her head, look at you, and she responds to having her back stroked. Her remote requires you to enter a secret code to activate it in order to issue commands to Kitty. You can change the secret code if you want.

Secret Code

You need to enter the secret pass code on the remote to let it know you want to play with it. The default passcode is "Purr", "Mean Meow", "Meow 1", and"Meow 2". If you have got it correct, the light on the remote will flash twice and you will be able to play with My Pet Kitty.

The secret command can be changed by entering the current one if you haven't, pressing "Wanna Play" and "Look at Me" simultaneously (the light on the remote should flash thrice), entering a secret code of your choice (the light will flash once), and re-entering it after the light flashed. When the light blinks twice, this means your secret code has been set.

The remote shuts off if it hasn't been used for 5 minutes, and will require you to re-enter the secret passcode to activate it.

Commands From the Remote

Important: Kitty will "sleep" after about 5 minutes of inactivity and will need to be woken up by petting her back.

Playing with the Mouse

The mouse falls asleep after 15 minutes of inactivity. To reactivate it, switch it to "Off" and then to the desired play mode ("Stay" or "Move").

Stay Mode

In this mode, the mouse will remain still while Kitty will try to catch it. Slide the switch on the mouse to "Stay" and place the mouse 3-5 feet away from Kitty, with his tail pointing at her face.

Move Mode

Kitty will try to catch the mouse while the mouse is moving in this mode. Slide the switch to "Move", and the mouse will run, stop, and turn while trying to avoid being caught by Kitty. Kitty will chase the mouse when it runs in front of her, but she may stop chasing it if the mouse is too far or if there is an object between Kitty and the mouse (she detects the mouse via infrared, so objects placed in the way can be an issue).

You can place the mouse right in front of her with its tail pointing in the direction of her face, if she has trouble detecting it.
