Mugyu Mugyu Pon! Tamago Wo Umudo

Mugyu Mugyu Pon! Tamago Wo Umudo (むぎゅむぎゅポン！たまごをウムード) is an interactive toy from Bandai, to be released on the 19th of October, 2024. It requires three AA batteries, and was shown at the 2024 Tokyo Toy Fair.

Backstory

This creature's apetite consists only of eggs, and it has a habit of eating its own eggs when hungry. While it appears to have a beak, its "beak" is actually its nose. This creature is lonely on Umudo Star. It lays eggs because it wants company, but it's stuck with a habit of eating its eggs after laying them.

Appearance

Umudo resembles a round bird with large, cute eyes, a nose that looks exactly like a small beak, a pair of wings, and a short tail. They have a yellow pair of feet, a large tummy area with a translucent star that can glow different colors, pink, blushing cheeks, and a single, large tuft on its head (officially referred to as a "chonmage").

It's so funny to me that the mouth is revealed when you pull the stomach area open. The inside of its mouth is mostly red and has pointy, felt teeth.

Color Variations

It comes in either a purple or a blue color variation. The blue color variation has a yellow nose, yellow legs, a light pink tummy area. This variation has blue eyes, a blue tail, blue wings, a blue tuft on its head, and a blue body. The purple variation has purple eyes, a purple body, purple wings, a purple tail and tuft on its head, and a pale yellow tummy area. It also has a yellow nose and yellow feet.

Functions

The Umudo's body moves up and down on its legs, and the star on its tummy, called its "mood star", can glow different colors, according to how Umudo feels. If its mood star is light blue, blue, or red, don't touch the tuft on its head, otherwise, the friendship level will drop.

Umudo speaks, and you can communicate with Umudo by grabbing the tuft on its head.

When the friendship level has reached its max, Umudo will enter 'Um Um Mode', where it can lay an egg. When Umudo says "umudo!" while music from the toy itself plays, squeeze the tuft on its head as it says "umudo' in time to the music; if you successfully grab it twice or thrice, Umudo will lay an egg. The egg contains a little figure of either a male or female Umudo.

After laying the egg, one of three types of tunes will start playing, and you will be prompted by Umudo to feed it. You can feed the egg, by opening its stomach area, revealing its mouth, and inserting the egg into the plastic hole, so it can lay it again.

Apparently, the more you play with it, the more types of music it will play; it can play tropical music, "kawaii" music, and kobushi music.
