e-sekai Poo-Chis

In 2000, Sega Toys and e-sekai (run by ASCII EC) had a joint project where they allowed visitors of the e-sekai website to vote for their favorite Poo-Chi colorway, from a selection of colorways the website showed. Voting began on the 13th of July, 2000, and they were going to choose three Poo-Chis with the most votes.

Results

Voting closed on the 3rd of August that year, with a total of 283 valid votes. The "Pink & Pink" colorway, which had the most votes, received 90 votes, while the "Black" colorway, which came second place, received 69 votes.

Due to how the Poo-Chi which won third place apparently had much lesser votes than the Poo-Chi which was second place, the third Poo-Chi did not get produced. The third most-voted colorway was not identified on the page which announced the two winning Poo-Chi colorways.

A total of 12 colors that people could vote for were shown on the winning page, however, the images did not get archived on the Wayback Machine. It's not known if atleast each color had a prototype, or if what was shown for each color was an illustration or prototype.

Aside from "Pink & Pink" (later known as e-Pink) and "Black" ("e-Black" was its later name), colors which people could vote for included:

  1. White (ホワイト)
  2. Green & Blue (グリーン&ブルー)
  3. Orange & Blue (オレンジ&ブルー)
  4. Silver & Blue (シルバー&ブルー)
  5. Silver & Green (シルバー&グリーン)
  6. Green & Purple (グリーン&パープル)
  7. Yellow & Purple (イエロー&パープル)
  8. Blue & Yellow (ブルー&イエロー)
  9. Silver & Yellow (シルバー&イエロー)
  10. Purple & Pink (パープル&ピンク)

Pre-orders for the winning colors were open from the 17th of August until the 14th of September, and the two colors were produced in limited quantities.

The Released Colors

These Poo-Chis could only be pre-ordered from the e-sekai website and they have the same programming as the U.S. version. This includes infrared communication with each other, a bone to feed the Poo-Chis, a different set of tunes, and different barking sounds.

The two colorways which were produced were e-Pink and e-Black.

e-Pink

Sold in a box which resembles the American version of Poo-Chi's box but with Sega Toys and e-sekai mentioned, some Japanese, and the name of the color scheme. This Poo-Chi has translucent, pink plastic for its tail, ears, and leg caps, and its body, head, and legs are a light shade of pink and looks shiny.

One of the Poo-Chis pictured below has official stickers stuck to it; the Poo-Chi didn't originally come with these stickers. Also, its tail broke off. The last photo in the gallery below is from the official Poo-Chi website, but the Poo-Chi oddly looks more like a white one, rather than a light pink one (lighting or weird editing?).

e-Black

A black Poo-Chi with translucent, black plastic for its ears, tail, and leg caps.
