Drum

Drum is a generic name given to a knockoff Winnie the Pooh toy by an unknown company. It's based on Tomy's "Tataite Tontoko" (たたいてトントコ) Winnie the Pooh toy, which features a figure of Pooh that drums when you tug the pullstring at the front of the drum.

Appearance

There are two versions of the toy, including the Winnie the Pooh version, and a bee version.

The toy is a drum resembling a large dark blue honey pot with a figure of either Winnie the Pooh or a bee standing on top of a blue platform behind the drum. The drum has the word 'Hunny' in yellow on the front, with two blue bees that have a single yellow stripe and pale blue wings, flying near the word.

It has two small blue handles, two silver cymbals, honey dripping from the rim, and two illustrations of bees on top. The right cymbal has a small illustration of one of the bees and the word 'Music' in colorful letters, while the left cymbal has the word 'Drum' in colorful letters.

The bee figure appears to be based on illustrations of bees by someone. I wonder where the art of the bees originally came from.

The figure is yellow with a white stripe beneath its neck, and a pink stripe on its body beneath it. Its wings are white and green, and its antennae are pink. The figure of Pooh has a small light for each eye, and beats the drum with drumsticks, while the bee uses its hands for drumming.

Functions

The toy moves around with bump and go action, while playing music, as a figure of Winnie the Pooh or a bee are drumming. A version of the toy called "Music Drum" plays "Fishes Fishes", while an unknown version plays "Three Auspicious Treasures" ("吉祥三宝"). The lights in Winnie the Pooh's eyes flash, and a red light on each cymbal also flashes as they move up and down. No videos of the bee version are known to exist.

Box Versions

Four versions of the box are known to exist.

Box 1

This box is blue and features an illustration of Pooh holding the pot with one hand and his other hand near the opening of the pot. The box refers to the toy as "Drum".

Both versions of the toy have been sold with this packaging.

Box 2

Only the bee version is confirmed to have been sold with this type of box (this is the only photo of it I've seen). The box calls the toy "Music Drum", and has an image of Winnie the Pooh holding his right arm out, covered in honey, with the honey pot in his other arm.

Box 3

This version of the box features the company logo in the upper right corner on the front of the box. Art of Eeyore and Pooh can be seen on the front, with the words "Music Drum" in colorful letters. The box is mostly light blue with some purple. Only a Winnie the Pooh version is known to have been sold in this box.

Box 4

Possibly the latest version of the box? The box looks more colorful, in contrast to the previous ones listed. It has a baby on the front with the toy.

I've only seen the Winnie the Pooh version of the toy with this box.
