Coolbo

Coolbo is a robot soccerball sold by Deerc and Fineco. The toy is 11 cm in height and width, and requires 3 AA batteries.

Appearance

Coolbo resembles a soccerball on three wheels with a visor that has a glowing pair of blue eyes. The toy can transform from this state into looking more like a robot.

When transforming, the toy can raise itself from its base to seem slightly taller, and it can raise its right and left wings (which happen to be a large circular plastic piece on its left and right side). It also has an elliptical piece of plastic ontop of its head (officially referred to as the “top wing”) that it can raise up. When fully transformed, Coolbo reminds me of a little bird with its crest up. Its top wing has a small blue light which is the same shape as the wing itself.

Coolbo comes in a blue color variation and a gold color variation. These colors are used for the top wing, the visor's outline, and the outlines of the hexagons on Coolbo. The gold variation is only known to have been sold by Deerc and has the distributor's name and logo above its left eye. The blue variation was sold by Fineco and has "01 COOL BO" above its left eye.

Functions

Aside from transforming into a robot, the toy can play music or sing a song if you ask it to. It can avoid obstacles when moving around, but is still capable of getting stuck and needing your help. Its eyes glow blue, and it can repeat what you say. It can transform after you switch it on, by touching its top wing. It also responds to the following phrases and words:

• Go forward.
• Rotate
• Dance for me.
• Play the music.
• Sing a song.
• I like you.
