Super Star is an animated sound-activated toy dolphin sold by Sun Kee Toys. It requires three AA batteries.
While multiple version of it exist, all of them sway their heads left and right, strum their guitars (if they're holding one), and they move their mouths when singing.
Sold by Sun Kee with a blue rectangular base that has the letters “Sea World” on it. These ones play an excerpt of “Hotel California”, and then switch to a MIDI cover of the song. When they’re finished with their performance, they play a soundtrack of a cheering audience with someone’s voice thanking the audience.
The dolphins for this version of the toy are known to have been sold in gray and white, pink and white, and blue and white.
I don’t know if Sun Kee sold this version or another company, and I don't know if it was also sold as "Super Star". It has the same functionality as the “Sea World” ones. Its base is silver and it has the words “Show Time”.
Likely sold by a different company. I don't know what this was officially called.
It plays an excerpt from three Brazilian "Funk" songs, including "Dança da Motinha", "Vou Passar Cerol na Mão", and "Tapinha" (thank you so much to @brush-it-gently on tumblr for identifying them).
From Sun Kee. I've never seen this one's box, but Sun Kee's website referred to it as "Dolphin Singer", and since the website did correctly refer to the Sea World version as "Super Star", there's a chance that "Dolphin Singer" could be the name used on the box. It plays a short excerpt from “La Isla Bonita” and then plays a MIDI tune.
Released in gray and white, pink and white, and blue and white.
There doesn't appear to be video footage of this one (atleast at the time this page was published).
Apparently this one sings in dolphin noises.
