Pang Pang is the name given to a communication robot that was displayed at a science exhibition called "Technology Creates the Future" in May 2002. The same type of robot was displayed at "Top Intelligent Robots" by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006, at an exhibition at the China Science and Technology Museum in 2008, and in 2005 at another exhibition held by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
I don't know if "Pang Pang" is the official name, since multiple photos show the robot with the words "Smart Speech Robot" (智能语音机器人) on it, but a news article mentions the name of the robot shown at the 2002 exhibition is "Pang Pang".
There's not much info about it. Its speech recognition system was created by the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
I can't tell if the article mentions it speaks "3,000-4,000 sentences", or if the article is saying "3,000 or 4,000 sentences".
