T-Dog 2000

Some images on here came from theoldrobots.com.

Apologies for an error that was left on this page for so long. The BBC article mentions "T-Dog Lady", not "T-Lady". Feel free to correct this error, if you've mentioned this spelling elsewhere.

T-Dog 2000 is a bootleg toy with bump and go action that was sold by a variety of companies. The company that originally created the toy remains unknown. T-Dog's appearance is based on the appearance of the ERS-11x AIBOs.

Most versions of T-Dog 2000 were sold in silver. The dog has light-up eyes that flash red while the toy is in action, and most versions of T-Dog wag their tail and move their legs while the bump and go wheels beneath move the dog.

The button on T-Dog's chest does not appear to be functional on all versions of the toy. On Robo-K9 and Tomy's version of T-Dog, it's used as a "Try me" button.

Names

There are too many, help.
Most of the companies that sold different versions of T-Dog aren't known.

T-Dog 2000

Sold by TOHO in Japan. It was also sold by TOMY and Li Wei outside Japan, with an English box. Another English version of the box exists without a company logo; the company which sold T-Dog in these boxes is unknown.

Future Pup

Nothing unusual here. Sold by Value Safari.

Robo K-9

From Talentoy. Has gray ears and an intruder mode, where he will bark if he detects sound or touch.

Bobby (波比) Dog

Looks like your average T-Dog. There's a blue icon on the box, but I can't tell what it is. It could be something else other than a company logo.

Walking Robot Dog

Two images here are from gokey.cn. Available with either pink, blue, or black ears.

Could have been made by Gokey Toys themselves, but I'm not sure. The use of translucent ears for two colorways, and something about the way the top of the box looks, reminds me of Poo-Chi.

Unidentified Version #1

Has a much clearer visor. Doesn't look like it has bng wheels.

Unidentified Version #2

Has a clear visor like the other unidentified version, but it has two, raised spots below its visor, silver ears, and a different tail.

Clever Dog

Walks about with flashing lights in its visor; has no bump and go wheels.

Walking Robot Dog (Again)

Has a dark blue visor. The box has an edited image of the eyes glowing blue.

This one doesn't seem to have bump and go wheels, so it probably walks on its legs, unlike the other "Walking Robot Dog" from earlier.

Electric Toy: Cat & Dog

Has a smoother head than the other T-Dogs. This one walks rather than moving about on wheels.

Machine Dog

T- Dog Lady(?) & A Chrome Silver T-Dog

The name 'T-Dog Lady' is mentioned in a BBC article. The article states it and T-Dog would be sold for 1,980 yen (separately) at the end of March 2000.

It's believed the version of T-Dog with a bow, shown at the Tokyo Toy Fair in 2000, is T-Dog Lady. The BBC article was even talking about the 2000 Tokyo Toy Fair.

T-Dog Lady isn't confirmed to have been released, however, and neither is the chrome version which was shown at the event.

The white cat in those photos could possibly be a prototype version of T-Cat. It has the same type of body as T-Dog and a blocky head. Despite how it doesn't appear to have been released, there is a yellow pullback toy with a similar look (very different head and ears, however, and likely from a different company that wanted a cat version).

Robot Dog

"Robot Dog"

An odd version from Kwong Fei. Listed on their website as "Robot Dog". Has blue, translucent eyes, and the same translucent plastic for a plastic orb on its tail and its ears. It has no button on its chest, a black nose, and its tail is springy.

Clever Dog (Again)

It has a much rounder head, rounder ears, and a different tail where the tip is shaped like a droplet. It has some pointed teeth and is missing a button on its chest. I love the official illustration of it, though the actual toy has lesser teeth than it.

Walking Robot Dog (3rd Time)

Has a red spot painted on each leg, and moves about on wheels, despite the toy's name.

Machinery Dog

T-Dog with a remote that's connected to the dog itself. It seems the tip of its tail can either be red or orange.

T-Dog 2000 — Sing, Mimic, Dancing

Sold by Toho in Japan and China. This dog comes with a black and white checkered flag with "T-Dog 2000" on it, and it sits on its hind legs. It opens and shuts its mouth, and moves its front two legs up and down, while holding the flag in its right paw. It can repeat what you say and playback what you said to it as a tune. T-Dog can playback a total of 10 different tunes, using your voice.

Xinxin (新新)

That's his name. A newer version of T-Dog, sold by Amwell. Looks like it was sold sometime during the 2010s.

This version is a member of the "Xinxin Family" (新新家族), which in this case, refers to a series of bump and go robot dogs (and one robot cat). The term has also been used by Amwell to describe their other robots, including interactive ones and a series of RC knockoff Micro Pets.

No videos of this version appear to have been uploaded online, so it's unknown if this version plays music or only barks. While there is no video footage, the box does show an illustration of Xinxin with blue, glowing eyes. Unlike other electronic versions of T-Dog, Xinxin is white instead of silver.

Merchandise

Water Game

Toys

Available in cat or dog variations.

Unidentified Keychain

Machine Dog Phone

Unidentified Air Pump & Windup Versions

Only been spotted in white. Squeeze the green pump, and T-Dog should move. Here are some irrelevant toy horses which also have a pump that makes them move.

Cyber Pets

Pullstring toys which move. Available as a robot cat or dog. The cat can come in silver or with a translucent colorway with a silver visor. The dog can also come in silver or in a translucent colorway with a silver visor. The translucent dog version looks purple here, the cat one in its box looks blue, while the cat one outside its packaging looks purple.
