Nestlings are interactive toys released by toy company, Goliath, in 2019. They had a suggested retail price of £49.99 and require three AAA batteries.
Most info here came from this official Nestlings animation.
Nestlings reside in a magical world called Nestopia. Nestopia has trees that are purple with gold leaves, a pink sky with white stars, a river that has "magical rainbow colored water", and there are some empty nests that can be seen on the ground. With their color-changing eyes, Nestlings express how they feel.
When a Nestling's eyes are multicolored, it is ready to lay eggs.
The animation also shows lots of purple grass, blue, yellow, purple, and pink flowers, and black mushrooms with pink spots. Art that appears at the start and end of the video shows purple, heart-shaped clusters and glowing, yellow stars hanging from trees. The animation shows a Nestling being fed one of the stars.
In addition to all of this, Nestlings (including the actual toy) speak their own language.
They are round, soft creatures with a short pair of arms, ears, and legs. They have a silver, glittery pair of eyes with felt, black lashes. They also have a translucent, yellow heart on their tummies, which is meant to resemble a gem. Each ear has a sewn sparkle and two, sewn dots. These creatures also have a small, purple, button nose.
They come in two color variations. The blue variation has a blue body, blue arms and legs, and yellow ears with pink details. The pink one has pink arms and legs, with blue ears that have yellow details.
The babies that come with them are mouthless and limbless. They only have a felt pair of ears, a piece of felt on their head resembling a bunch of fur, and large adorable eyes and a little nose embroidered on. The babies can either be purple, yellow, pink, or blue.
Nestlings have four sensors, including one in each foot, its nose, and one in the top of its head.
Their eyes change color, according to what they need or how they are feeling.
After playing with your Nestling for a while, their heart should glow yellow and their eyes should flash different colors. When this happens, place the Nestling in its nest. It will lay its egg and sing happy birthday. After about two minutes, it should lay another egg.
Nestlings won't lay their eggs without their nest, according to the manual.
Your Nestling will respond if you place any of her babies near her feet.
Press the Nestling's nose for 5 seconds to enter this mode. Then, touch its head and nose to play music with it. The baby Nestlings will play sounds if you hold them to her feet.
To see the Nestling lay its eggs again, turn it upside down to reset it, press the nose and head sensor down for five seconds, and you should be able to put the eggs back in. Press its nose to close the compartment for the eggs.
Despite there being photos of a pink one and a blue version, I think the pink one may be a recolor??
This prototype has a white, translucent heart gem on its tummy, and a purple swirl on each foot. The released version of the nest to place the Nestling in does not have holders for the Nestling's eggs, but the one in these images does. Also, the eggs in the stand are white, rather than pink or blue.
On the 14th of September, 2019, from 11 AM until 1 PM, a Nestlings launch celebration was held at a Smyths store at Staples Corner Retail Park, in the U.K.
Kids could have their faces decorated with glitter and they could have Nestlings-branded cupcakes, before meeting kidfluencers, Ruby Rube and Bonnie, who were present at the event as special guests.
Kids also received a branded Nestlings bag, a headband, and a coloring sheet.
