Sandy Snacks-a-Lot (U.S. name), aka the Tasty Treats Axolotl (in the U.K. and Australia), is an interactive toy from Vtech, released in 2024. It requires four AA batteries.
The U.S. version has a female voice, while the U.K. version has a male voice.
Sandy is a cyan axolotl with dark blue eyes, a light blue, curved stroke in each eye, pink gills, and a white dorsal side. She has star-shaped imprints on her tail, legs, neck, and chest.
Sandy's instruction manual can be found here (the U.K. version can be found here).
She can move her eyes up and down, open and close her mouth, and stretch out her tongue. She can also open her mouth and spit out food.
You can pet Sandy’s head to see how she reacts, you can adjust her volume, hear her sing when you press the music button, and hear her talk about snacks and colors when you press the learning button.
She has a light in her chest that can glow different colors according to her mood, and she comes with discs that each have a picture of a food item. Her chest glows when speaking, singing, or in response to being fed.
Place one of her plastic disks near her mouth, and she will open her mouth, expecting you to place it on her tongue. Her chest will light-up, and she will react to the item you fed her and identify it.
My gills are really cool, and people love my smiling face. They help me breathe in water, as I move from place to place.
Sour and spicy, cold and sweet. So many things to try, so many things to eat.
I am a walking fish. Axolotl is my name. I swim or walk on land! Would you like to play a game?
I love food and I am hungry. I am ready for a snack. Bleah! What is that you fed me? You better take it back!
Sleeping, playing, hiding, I come out at night. My home is in the rocks, hiding from the light.
I love all the colors in my yummy food. Red strawberries, yellow lemons. Pink ice cream is tasty too
